Dove couldn't be resurrected because Dove is in heaven (all the others were in purgatory/limbo/Nekron's realm of death). We'll see if pa kent is another one "at peace." He should be.

My guess is the end of BN the heroes stalemate with Nekron, and somehow strike a bargain. They must "give death his due" and some heroes volunteer to pay the DC universe's (huge) debt to death (Hal? Barry? Ollie?, all the guardians?), while others return to life (Aquaman, MM, Hawk/hawkgirl?). During this "negotiation," Nekron will say something about how Bruce isn't dead and not in Nekron's power to revive.Boazhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12337449567894409927noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2404509015791000032.post-22434288375856497052009-08-14T09:58:29.284-07:002009-08-14T09:58:29.284-07:00King, I think you're right on.King, I think you're right on.Rikdadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14475851964933197612noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2404509015791000032.post-66443019832323967282009-08-13T23:11:25.922-07:002009-08-13T23:11:25.922-07:00Hey Rikdad , I think Bruce Wayne (asuuming the ske...Hey Rikdad , I think Bruce Wayne (asuuming the skeleton) is his shouldn't be eligible for resurrection.
Upon Re-reading Final Crisis#6 , I read it that Bruce Wayne is completely at peace and smiling in the end , he doesn't see it as death , he sees it as the next step in the plan . I think Morrison probably chose his path first, and Johns is working Bruce's death into his story as a matter of convenience, but... well, there was something in Blackest Night #2 that seemed to set up a possible plot development regarding Bruce Wayne. I'll have to lay it out at length to do it justice. It made me think that perhaps we will see Bruce play more of a role in Blackest Night than just to provide a prop.

Johns has also made lots of telling comments about where the story is going that fans don't seem to have chewed on yet. And notice that it never showed even a single panel of what was actually happening "now" -- it was all in Bruce's mind, or following reincarnation, a metatextual rebirth. Morrison agreed with an interviewer that you could imagine it working in (being all inside Bruce's head, it makes no commitment to any particular details), but it was not intended to do so, either by Morrison nor by Gaiman.

Note that the Batman in Gaiman's story was aware of multiple continuities across all decades and media. He was aware that Batman began "before Pearl Harbor" and of the animated series Joker. It was a metatextual story first and foremost. Batman in our universe doesn't have the power to know about his own comics.Rikdadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14475851964933197612noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2404509015791000032.post-51610631499503045492009-08-13T10:31:08.021-07:002009-08-13T10:31:08.021-07:00Just wondering, does anyone else think that "...Just wondering, does anyone else think that "Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader?" is what's happening to Bruce post recieving a blast from the Omega Sanction? His charred corspe is left behind

2- Superman carries out the corpse

3- Bruce's corspe is placed into the Daily Planet rocket and jettisoned into the unstable Multiverse. They did this as a tribute to the man, thinking their time on earth was nearly done

4- Superman defeats Darkseid and Mandrakk, the Dark Monitor

5- Mandrakk's corspe is buried beside the Waynes as a way to either hide the corpse (must still contain power) or to give Bruce a "proper" funeral....or both

6- Bruce escapes the Omega Sanction and is returned to his body in the past.

OR

LIKELY

The Omega Sanction/Effect (in its intriguing ways) had the ability to not only make Batman suffer by being lost in the past, but left behind a corspe to make those closest to him suffer and extinguish any hope of him being alive. So in a sense, Batman was split in two (not unlikely in this type of story) to live out a fate worse than death by being time-displaced and knowing that his friends and family assume he is dead.Jay-Me-Deehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15800761774963965583noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2404509015791000032.post-27816321864187389792009-08-11T22:47:10.768-07:002009-08-11T22:47:10.768-07:00Matt, thanks! The ghostly Batman image seen in the third preview panel at the end of Batman and Robin #1 might mean that we start to get hints five or six months from now in that series. That would be near the end of Blackest Night. I think Johns is effectively "borrowing" dead Bruce, who "belongs to" Morrison.Rikdadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14475851964933197612noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2404509015791000032.post-47055031198886614972009-08-11T13:14:47.619-07:002009-08-11T13:14:47.619-07:00Frank, I think Tim is going to be sidelined just b...Frank, I think Tim is going to be sidelined just because his title doesn't have a larger readership (even though #1 did very well). DC would want to make sure that an important event were being marketed in advance. So, for example, when some lesser-selling titles had Dark Side Club stories before Final Crisis, it ended up being pretty extraneous to the larger story.

I re-read #666 this morning. It's clear, once again, that Bruce and Dick are both absent. It's certain that at least one of them is dead, and probably both. It's possible that Dick or Bruce is alive, and only one of them dead, and if so, the one who's dead is almost certainly Bruce.

There are three mysteries left hanging with #666, now that Morrison says that B&R will tie into it: Will Damian make a deal with the Devil in the next ten issues of B&R? Will Dick die? And: Why is Damian talking trash re: the Devil if he's gotten his powers from the Devil? There's some disconnect there. I'm not sure if it's possible to make sense of it before we read more, but I'll give it some thought.Rikdadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14475851964933197612noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2404509015791000032.post-85741086359293267222009-08-11T11:52:05.671-07:002009-08-11T11:52:05.671-07:00Roberto -- thanks for that additional piece of inf...Roberto -- thanks for that additional piece of information I had missed.
